The "Cape Seal" is a combination of two of Florida Highway Products' most
effective paving techniques. The first paving course is called a "Chip Seal" and
the second is known as a "Double Microsurfacing."
The Chip Seal is necessary to seal the aging pavement and provide a stress
relieving membrane between the old pavement and the new. This is a highly
effective preventive maintenance technique that is utilized to retard reflective
cracking. |
Shortly after the Chip Seal has been applied, the Double Microsurfacing is
laid. The first course of the Microsurfacing will correct rutting and contour
imperfections that are up to 1½ inches deep. The second course is applied
to obtain the needed strength, durability and longevity of your final paved
surface. |

The popularity of the Cape Seal is rapidly increasing due to its cost effective
nature and its ability to rehabilitate roadways that are in exceptionally poor
condition. For more information regarding the individual processes involved
with our Cape Seal product, please reference our descriptions of the Chip
Seal and Microsurfacing applications or contact one of our regional sales
managers.
